Shari Alexander, Chef-Innkeeper, is a graduate of the New York Restaurant School. ” She has created restaurants in The Hamptons, Spain, and Sarasota, Florida. She won 3 stars from The New York Times for her Hamptons bistro The Ship's Galley. Shari has been in the food biz for over 25 years and has had a large celebrity clientele in her exciting career, serving the likes of Alan Alda, Michael Douglas, Morgan Freeman and Billy Joel, to name just a few. Shari is a noted food and wine columnist, has been featured on many national TV shows, has contributed to various cook books and written food columns under her own byline. She was recently inducted by her peers into the prestigious culinary association, "Les Amis d' Escoffier” and was chosen as spokesperson for the Central Massachusetts culinary industry and celebrity chef by the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce. The Red Maple Inn Cooking School is one of Shari's great passions. "It is such a fun way to learn about international cuisines, food techniques and history, plus spend an evening eating great food with new Foodie friends!" she says. Each class includes demonstrations of various International cuisines and local seasonal dishes, a whole evening of learning the secrets of professional chefs. Shari teaches most classes, but occasionally a guest chef shows up, including “Iron Chef” Tom Schaudel and Bravo TVs “Top Chef” star, Miguel Morales. Like Shari, her chef-friends love sharing their talent, signature dishes and passion for cooking!
Classes start at 6:30 PM with a lively and fun-filled kitchen demonstration; the dishes are prepared and sampled both in the kitchen and seated together at the large “Tuscan Table” in the dining room with appropriate wine pairings and lively chatter about food and wine. By the end of each class everyone has made new friends, tasted new dishes and wines, and, best of all, shared a delicious and memorable experience. We invite you to join Shari and her friends to experience great cuisine in a one-of-a-kind experience.
